On August 13, the Rockdale Education Foundation was proud to sponsor a community reception celebrating the swearing-in of Dr. Stephanie Johnson as Superintendent of Rockdale County Public Schools. Surrounded by colleagues, family, friends, educators, and community supporters, Dr. Johnson took the oath of office administered by Chief Superior Court Judge Nancy Bills. The occasion brought together leaders from across Rockdale County and throughout Georgia, including State School Superintendent Richard Woods, Rockdale County Commissioners, and numerous civic and community leaders.

More than a ceremony, the evening reflected something at the heart of the Foundation’s mission: strong public schools are built through strong community partnerships. As Dr. Johnson begins leading RCPS into its next chapter, the gathering offered an opportunity for people from education, government, business, and the broader community to come together around a shared commitment to Rockdale’s students and their futures.

By sponsoring the reception, the Foundation helped create a meaningful welcome for a new district leader while strengthening the relationships that make greater opportunities for students possible. When a community gathers around its schools, it sends a powerful message: our students matter, our educators matter, and the future of public education in Rockdale is something we all have a stake in building.
